CLARK / BARNES repositioned this existing high-rise building in Belltown, Seattle. Centennial Tower’s second-floor amenities were transformed from small, dark, segmented spaces into an open and airy resident amenity zone. The complete redesign consolidated several spaces into a new club room with an adjoining connection to the fitness facility and indoor pool.

The new club room features a large kitchen with quartz waterfall countertops as the focal point, an array of kitchen appliances, and a variety of seating arrangements for residents to connect, work, or entertain. A new media wall and bright orange multi-functional seating engages residents throughout the entire space, while a shuffleboard table activates a previously dark corner into a play zone. The interiors play with geometric patterns and scale to engage with the occupants and communicate the intended activity of each individual zone.

The removal of the existing dropped tile ceiling and subsequent exposure of the structure and mechanical systems delivers an interesting industrial backdrop for the room that creates a sense of character. A contemporary design uses artwork, sculptures, and materials that embrace cooler grays and whites, while providing bold infusions of color that activate the share amenity space.
